Hi friends,
I don’t mean to boast, but I have some stuff coming up and I would love to see you there.
I am launching a new short-concert series celebrating virtuosos from my hometown of Israel. Roni Shitrit and Vladimir Rumyantsev will be performing a dazzling program and will join us for a reception after. Great after-work activity if you’re in the area. Battery Park. March 28, 7 PM at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
My most ambitious project to date is premiering April 3. I’ll be conducting Mahler’s First symphony with my fortgreene orchestra. 80 musicians, scored light design, and a beautiful cathedral. That’s the best I can do:) April 3rd - 13th Prospect Heights. St Joseph Co-Cathedral.
More stuff:
Modern music in a crypt in Brooklyn, with a. wine and cheese reception. Excellent flute player, Emily Ferguson! Greenwood Cemetery. Today! (March 26th) 6 PM and 7:30 PM.
Carnegie Hall is presenting one of the best string quartets in the world. The French Ebene String quartet is one of my personal favorites. Might be sold out very quickly. Carnegie Hall. April 5th 7:30 PM
Brahms piano quartet, and Liszt sonata are two absolute masterpieces. They’re preceded by exceptional concert talks in a well kept secret space (former dairy in the middle of midtown). Definitely worth visiting. Also, usually they have a reception after. Midtown West April 11th 7:30 PM
The Philadelphia Orchestra is in town with a great program. Mahler’s 7th symphony is fantastic and combining it with his songs makes perfect sense! Carnegie Hall April 12th 8PM.
I’ve attended Turandot twice this month at the Met Opera, and doesn’t cease to surprise me what an amazing opera it is. With the Franco Zeffirelli production, it’s a no-brainer. Consider going inn afternoon show and after you use the tricks I taught you for rush tickets, you can afford some drinks in the 2 intermissions. Met Opera. April 14th 3 PM.
As always Music before 1800, fails to disappoint. Cool program with early Spanish music (yeah!) in Corpus Christi Church. Morningside Heights. April 14th 4 PM. Corpus Christi Church.
Let me know if you’d like me to keep tabs on Carnegie and such. I attend all the time, and forgot to share. oops.
All the best,
Daniel.
