Hi Folks,
Here’s the latest and greatest:
One of the best concert series in the city is back with another chamber music concert. Informative pre-concert “lecture” 6:30PM, and a wine reception after. Easy to recommend. UES. March 14 (6:30 pre-concert lecture) 7:30 PM.
A good program in a space I like. Shostakovich’s piano quintet in the House of the Redeemer. Looks a little emo, but curious enough:) UES. March 20th 6:30 PM.
Twelfth Night Ensemble is one of the best baroque ensembles in the city and they’re playing in an unconventional space (ArtxNYC). There’s no information anywhere, which makes it seem like they’re trying to hide this show, let’s ruin their plans and all attend out of spite. Candlelit, high-quality baroque. Say less. Union Square-ish March 22 7:00 PM.
Very interesting presenter. Music from Mali before 1800, if you’re looking to do something different. This concert looks like it’ll be good. Morningside Heights March 24 4:00 PM.
It’s been a moment. Another children’s concert from my friends at the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra. Brooklyn Heights March 23rd 11:00 AM.
My friends Doori Na and Ariadne Greif (violin and soprano extraordinaire) are playing a concert featuring Schoenberg’s Peirot Lunaire IYKYK, and some other contemporary composers. Great musicians and interesting program. Warning: contemporary music. Hudson Yards March 28th 8:00 PM.
Further Down the Road…
Yours truly is conducting Mahler’s First symphony with the Fort Greene Orchestra at the stunning St Joseph’s Co-Cathedral. We’re musically programming the lights and have an assembled a force of 80 musicians. One of the biggest projects of my life, hope to see some familiar faces in the audience. Heads up: the first Saturday (4/6) is likely to sell out before the end of the month. Prospect Heights. Premieres April 3rd (4/3-4/13) 8 PM
Alrighty, I need to get back to work on the Mahler.
<3,
Daniel.
