Excited to announce that my recommendation newsletter is upgrading. I’ve got some help and we’re ready to start delivering a well-balanced recommendation newsletter so you can keep tabs on the coolest concerts in the city, at a glance.
We’ll send out email with my recommendations for the week. Typically on Monday, but we’ll play it by ear.
One of the first Messiahs of the season, NYBI puts together thoughtful concerts with an emphasis on historical performance practices. They’re performing in a beautiful church.

MidtownAlternatively, you can listen to the oldest-running Messiah performance in the city. Starting from 1770. That’s right, 1770! That’s the year of the first performance of Handel’s Messiah in Trinity Wall Street Church.

FIDIOn a more general note, Juilliard hosts a bunch of free concerts featuring their students. These folks represent the future of music. This one is a Baroque chamber music performance. Can be slightly overly-intellectual :-D

UWSChamber Music Society of Lincoln Center has a tradition of performing the iconic Brandenburg concerti from the one and only—Johann Sebastian Bach. Excellent music, and the ensemble is world-class.

UWSSomething for Brooklyn. Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra has a fun holiday concert coming up. They tend to sell out, so don’t wait.
